So far I have shot three squirrels this season. Not many around! lol :)

Finally I got my 22 back and it shoots very good. :D Look out squirrels.

Pheasent Taxidermy Project

Yesterday I picked up a road kill pheasant. It looks very undamaged, so I am going to try my hand at skinning it soon. Then I'll mount it at a later date, as I am a little short on money. :,( I found these video series on YouTube.

22 just not working!!

After awhile of sighting in my new 22, we found out it was just not working! It was about a foot off at 30 yards when it was adjusted as far as possible. We brought it back to the shop and he sent it to Savage to fix or replace. That was a few months ago so I should get it back any day now. :-)

Taxidermy Base

Yesterday I started working on a practice base for taxidermy. I think I will put a field mouse on it if I can find one. It is a setting of the forest floor under an oak tree.
I first got some dirt and put it in a small bucket. Then I added 1 oz of water and 1 oz of glue. I then mixed well and dumped the mud on my plywood base. I then I shaped the mud to a nice oval. After that I put on my oak leaves and a 30\06 shell. Today I want to add some acorns. I will get some pics up when it is done.

Shooting a Ton!

This Saturday we did some shooting with a friend of my dads. He brought his 22 pistol and his 45 pistol. I shot both and boy was that cool! We did rapid fire and all kinds of fun stuff. We also shot my dad's muzzle loader. Let me tell you that thing is LOUD!
Then we shot bow for a while. I got 4 bulls eyes. Then we went in, drank some coffee, and then he left.

22 Rifle

I picked up the new 22 and shot it the next day. It was shooting way high at 60 yards for me, my brother and my dad. We adjusted the sight a few times but it is still shooting high. After shooting awhile I got the handle of it. I have to aim down about 5". After I practice some more the tree rats will be going down!
After shooting I cleaned it good with a new kit I got from my grandpa/dad. It worked awesome.

Bow Sight and Release

Yesterday we went to the sporting goods store to pick up my gun. Since we were already going, I brought my old bow for draw length adjustments and to increase the poundage. He fixed the length problem, then cranked the poundage to the max. Now it's at 32 pounds, enough for deer in this state. Hopefully, I will go archery hunting this year!
While I was there I wanted to upgrade the sight. The old one was missing pins, and it was just junk. I don't know the name of the new sight because he just whipped it on. It has three pins. He said it would be good for a beginner. I must have been on a spending spree because I also bought a release. I will post pics below. I am going to try out all the stuff over the next few days.
