Shooting a Ton!

This Saturday we did some shooting with a friend of my dads. He brought his 22 pistol and his 45 pistol. I shot both and boy was that cool! We did rapid fire and all kinds of fun stuff. We also shot my dad's muzzle loader. Let me tell you that thing is LOUD!
Then we shot bow for a while. I got 4 bulls eyes. Then we went in, drank some coffee, and then he left.

Some spring photos. Also that is my dog Lightfoot. He is a registered chocolate lab.

22 Rifle

I picked up the new 22 and shot it the next day. It was shooting way high at 60 yards for me, my brother and my dad. We adjusted the sight a few times but it is still shooting high. After shooting awhile I got the handle of it. I have to aim down about 5". After I practice some more the tree rats will be going down!
After shooting I cleaned it good with a new kit I got from my grandpa/dad. It worked awesome.
Thanks Grandpa!!!!! Look below for pics!!!

Bow Sight and Release

Yesterday we went to the sporting goods store to pick up my gun. Since we were already going, I brought my old bow for draw length adjustments and to increase the poundage. He fixed the length problem, then cranked the poundage to the max. Now it's at 32 pounds, enough for deer in this state. Hopefully, I will go archery hunting this year!
While I was there I wanted to upgrade the sight. The old one was missing pins, and it was just junk. I don't know the name of the new sight because he just whipped it on. It has three pins. He said it would be good for a beginner. I must have been on a spending spree because I also bought a release. I will post pics below. I am going to try out all the stuff over the next few days.

Bear Track and Birds

During cow chores this morning I was hearing a lot of game bird calls. That got me itching to go out and see what I could see. So went out scouting/shed hunting. The coolest thing I saw was a bear track about 4-5" in width. I also saw a ton of other tracks in the mud that I thought were coyote. It was a good day for tracks because of all the mud in spring.

22 Rifle

I went to get a 22 rifle last Thursday and ordered a Savage. It will be good practice shooting and it will also be my squirrel gun. It was not the cheapest or too fancy. Here are the spec's.

Mark II G .22 Long Rifle 21 Inch Barrel Blue Finish Walnut Stained Hardwood Stock AccuTrigger (I have never used one of these, so any tips would be nice.) 10 Round

Open sights.

It's retail price was $226.

I'll post pic's when we pick it up.

My Blog

This is my first post on blog spot and my first ever blog too. I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination! I am doing this as part of my school but also just to see what it might turn into.
I am growing up in a hunting family, but I want to do more in the outdoors. I am researching and trying new things. In this blog I will be talking about those things from a beginner's perspective.

SO LETS GIVE IT A GO!!!!
